Medistretch™ is a new innovation from SAAS: a strong but lightweight ‘disposable’ stretcher designed for the workplace, sports field or other location where a patient needs to be moved before medical treatment begins. It is robust enough for emergency use, while being economical—making it affordable to industry and the broader community.
Paramedics from Modbury Station hit on the idea for a lightweight stretcher in 1997, and Medistretch™ has been designed to meet the needs of ambulance services and first aiders alike.
The physical dimensions of Medistretch™ enable it to be placed directly onto a typical ambulance stretcher, preventing unnecessary movement of the injured patient. Furthermore, it is radiolucent, so the patient can remain on it from the emergency scene to the X-ray table.
Medistretch™ is strong enough to lift up to 300 kg under normal working conditions, and durable enough to withstand the demands of the everyday emergency environment. Its easy-to-clean surface means it can be cleaned and disinfected using agents commonly found in the workplace.
This ‘disposable’ stretcher can also be stored flat in significant numbers without taking up too much valuable space.
Medistretch™ is die cut from green Corflute sheeting. Corflute is a twin-walled polypropylene that is lightweight, strong, waterproof and has chemical-resistant properties. It is resistant to vermin and moisture, giving it an indefinite shelf life. Corflute is also fully recyclable.
Medistretch™ is designed for lifting by four people and has been weight-tested for loads of up to 300 kg. Four handles down either side provide lifting points for the rescuers.
Lifting instructions are printed on the stretcher as a reminder, and there’s also space to write the name of your on-site first aider or the location of the nearest first aid kit.
Medistretch™ has a 25-mm hole at the top end that facilitates storage by allowing it to hang discreetly on a coat hook on a wall or door.
