It is vital that SAAS’s front line staff are supported by a skilled and dedicated support team so that the organisation can continually improve services to customers – both on and off the road.
A highly skilled emergency medical dispatch support officer (EMDSO) provides basic medical support over the phone when a Triple Zero (000) call comes through to the Emergency Operations Centre. At the same time an emergency medical dispatcher dispatches an ambulance resource to the incident.
Our paramedics and ambulance officers are able to respond to your emergency because of the significant support from staff across the organisation.
Paramedics leave their stations (maintained by building services) and get into their ambulances (regularly serviced and stocked for medical supplies by fleet and supply staff). Meanwhile, data is continually being captured by SA Ambulance Service’s Operational Information Unit to help us plan for future needs.
SA Ambulance Service’s ability to deliver high quality responsive care would fail without staff in the Customer Service Centre (who assist members and the public with enquiries), Revenue (who process case cards and coordinate products such as Ambulance Cover), Finance (who keep the financial affairs of the service), Workforce Services (who ensure we have the best possible staff) and other support services (who all keep the organisation running smoothly).
The education of SAAS's staff is also a high priority and as such SAAS has a team of Clinical Education staff who work to maintain the high quality of education and training.
